*Please note
As this event will be held virtually via Zoom, some aspects of the day have been removed.

St Patrick’s Roman Catholic High School is committed to Teacher training. As a National Teaching School we are eager to support future teachers, helping them gain experience in an outstanding secondary school. We are proud to take part in the School Experience Programme.
We would like to thank you for considering St Patrick’s RC High School to undertake your School Experience. Please read the following information carefully to ensure that our School Experience Programme is the best one for you.

The School Experience Events are a one day initial visit to our community. These taster days are available to those applicants who are considering applying for Teacher Training this year. Our bespoke programme is planned with this in mind to allow you to access information about the different routes into teaching.

During the day you will have the chance to observe and work in virtual lessons, with teachers and pupils across the school, as well as a focus on the subject area that you would like to teach. The whole life of a teacher and school community is catered for during your initial day with us in order to allow you to gain a small taste and understanding of school life.

Teacher training offered

The St Patrick’s School Direct Initial Teacher Training Course aims to support and encourage the next generation of teachers through a personal approach to teacher training.

On our School Direct Course you will have the opportunity to work in two contrasting placement schools. This means that by the end of the year you will be fully equipped with the skills needed to work in any school. You will have the understanding needed to continue your professional development, foster your own passion for learning and be happy and successful in your teaching career.

During your training year you will receive outstanding professional issue sessions provided by staff working in a National Teaching School and across our family of Alliance Schools. This research based training ensures that you have an effective understanding of Teaching and Learning so that you can make a real difference in your own classrooms.

You will have the opportunity to continue to develop your own subject specific knowledge, linking this to the wider curriculum. The Saint Patrick's school direct course includes 12 days of intense, focused, subject specific input from our partner University.

Liverpool Hope University have a Gold Standard in Teaching Excellence, ensuring that you always receive the very best training during your teaching year. These university sessions also provide you with an additional chance to network and share outstanding practice across Initial Teaching Training cohorts. As well as your QTS and PGCE you will receive 60 masters credits on our Schools Direct course.
