School profile

Swanmore College

Swanmore College is a modern school with traditional values, located in Swanmore, near Bishops Waltham, Hampshire. We seek to provide an excellent education for 11-16 year olds, in line with our core values of Innovation, Collaboration and Challenge.

We want our pupils to emerge from the college with a wide range of knowledge and experience, a group of lifelong friends, and a variety of interests that will continue to excite them in the future. To do this, we work in partnership with parents, teachers, governors and the local community.

Swanmore is a happy place where pupils, teachers and support staff enjoy working together. We want Swanmore to be referred to as a ‘Centre of Excellence’. A place where excellent teaching and learning is observed, where exemplary behaviour and care is guaranteed, where excellent GCSE results are attained and opportunities for all to achieve and flourish are given.

Swanmore College is proud to be the lead school for the Rural Schools Alliance, an established Teaching School partnership of Hampshire secondary schools based in rural communities.

About our school experience

We offer a full day's experience so that you get as much as possible from your visit.

Typically this will include the opportunity to:
- observe at least 4 lessons in your chosen subject across different year groups
- tour the school
- informally chat with a member of the Rural Schools Alliance team so that any questions regarding training or the School Direct route can be answered
- meet with current trainees

You'll be greeted at reception and guided around the school during the day. At lunch and afternoon break, you'll be taken to the teacher training hub so that you can find out more about teacher training with the Rural Schools Alliance.

We operate a cashless catering system so please bring your food for the day, along with a water bottle. There are various places to refill your bottle around the school, along with hot drink machines to use during breaks.

If you have any questions following your visit or would like to visit again, we're happy to help.

Start and finish times
08:15 to 15:00 - Flexible

Whilst our school day is from 08:15-15:00, we understand that you may need to start later or finish earlier. We're happy to discuss alternative timings with you when we arrange your visit.
