School profile

Swanmore College

Swanmore College is a modern school with traditional values, located in Swanmore, near Bishops Waltham, Hampshire. We seek to provide an excellent education for 11-16 year olds, in line with our core values of Innovation, Collaboration and Challenge.

We want our pupils to emerge from the college with a wide range of knowledge and experience, a group of lifelong friends, and a variety of interests that will continue to excite them in the future. To do this, we work in partnership with parents, teachers, governors and the local community.

Swanmore is a happy place where pupils, teachers and support staff enjoy working together. We want Swanmore to be referred to as a ‘Centre of Excellence’. A place where excellent teaching and learning is observed, where exemplary behaviour and care is guaranteed, where excellent GCSE results are attained and opportunities for all to achieve and flourish are given.

Swanmore College is proud to be the lead school for the Rural Schools Alliance, an established Teaching School partnership of Hampshire secondary schools based in rural communities.

Visit Swanmore College to get a feel for a classroom setting and see whether it is an environment you'd like to train and work in.

About our school experience

We offer a full day's experience to maximise the benefit of your visit.

This is open to anyone considering training with the Rural Schools Alliance and who hasn't yet applied or accepted a training place with another provider. Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor international student visas.

Typically you'll:
- observe some lessons in your chosen subject across different year groups
- learn about different teaching techniques and observe different teaching styles
- tour the school
- chat with a member of the RSA team about training and the school-led route
- meet with current trainees

You'll be greeted at reception and guided around the school during the day. At break and lunch, you'll be taken to our teacher training hub so that you can ask any further questions.

We operate a cashless catering system - please bring your food for the day and a water bottle. You can refill your bottle and use the free hot drink machines during breaks.

If you have any questions following your visit or want to visit again, we're happy to help.

Please note - our offices are open during term-time only. If you contact us during the school holidays we will reply when school reopens.

Start and finish times
08:15 to 15:00 - Flexible

Whilst our school day is from 08:15-15:00, we understand that you may need to start later or finish earlier. We're happy to discuss alternative timings with you when we arrange your visit.
