The Bitterne Park Teacher Training Alliance is pleased to offer school experience visits to individuals who may be considering a career in teaching. These events will run from 9.00am to 1.30pm and during your visit you'll have the opportunity to observe some lessons in your chosen subject area, speak to current teachers and receive advice and tips on your teacher training application. There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A session with our Director of Initial Teacher Training.
School experience is a vital part of your teacher training application and the majority of training providers require you to have it. Getting some classroom experience can also help you to decide whether teaching is right for you. It will strengthen your application and prepare you for potential interviews.

Bitterne Park School is the lead school for the Bitterne Park Teacher Training Alliance, a growing partnership comprising a diverse range of secondary schools across Hampshire and Wiltshire which present dynamic and exciting training possibilities for those wishing to pursue a career in teaching. Our school-led teacher training programme is one-year course delivered in partnership with the University of Winchester and combines the best elements of a traditional university-led PGCE training model with the benefits of a school-centred approach. Successful completion of our course leads to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) as well as contributing towards a Master's level qualification. The University of Winchester has a long history in teacher education and is recognised by Ofsted as an 'Outstanding' provider.
