Bitterne Park School
Bitterne Park School is a large community school with a strong tradition of academic achievement. At Bitterne Park School, we are passionate about developing the whole person, hence we have a balanced curriculum and a strong programme of extra-curricular activity which challenges our students to develop all areas of their potential. As a “Good” school we work very hard to maintain our high standards and we provide an excellent education for 11-19 year olds, set within the Bitterne Park community. Our core values of Community; Achievement; Respect; Relationships and Enjoyment permeate all that we aspire to be. This vibrant and positive approach is tangible in our brand new, state-of-the-art school.
Bitterne Park School is the lead school for the Bitterne Park Teacher Training Alliance, a partnership of 13 secondary schools across Hampshire and Wiltshire working with the Universities of Southampton, Winchester and Chichester to offer a School Direct teacher training programme which leads to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) as well as contributing towards a Master's level qualification.
About our school experience
- Individual requirements:
- Must be applying to or have applied to our, or a partner school's, teacher training course
- Must not have been accepted onto another teacher training course
School experience is a vital part of your teacher training application and the majority of training providers require you to have it. Getting some classroom experience can also help you to decide whether teaching is right for you. It will strengthen your application and prepare you for potential interviews.
The Bitterne Park Teacher Training Alliance is pleased to offer school experience visits to individuals who may be considering a career in teaching. These events will run from 8.50am to 2.30pm and during your visit you'll have the opportunity to drop into some lessons in your chosen subject area and also find out more about our teacher training programme. All of this will give you valuable insight and a great focus point for your application and interviews.
