Baysgarth School
Baysgarth School is a maintained secondary school for 11-16 year olds, based in Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire. We currently have approximately 850 students on roll, a number that continues to rise each year due to our reputation as a leading provider of high quality teaching and learning, resulting in excellent progress for all of our students.
The school has undergone a transformation over the last five years and is now consistently in the top two performing secondary schools in North Lincolnshire, achieving top 10% outcomes nationally for Progress 8 four years running.
As cited during our latest Ofsted inspection in October 2017, Baysgarth is making good progress on the journey to Outstanding and there is no better statistically similar school within 75 miles. Baysgarth boasts brand new state-of-the-art facilities on our campus, comprising of Baysgarth School, Baysgarth Sports Village and our on-site Alternative Provision Centre, Headway.
At Baysgarth, we are dedicated to caring for all of our students’ needs and we provide robust wraparound care to support and enhance wellbeing and promote an inclusive and strong community. We are very proud of our consistently outstanding outcomes, our inclusive nature and our family and community atmosphere. We are dedicated to strong mental health and wellbeing for students and staff and believe in working collaboratively in close-knit teams, supporting each other to achieve great things.

GORSE SCITT is the Outstanding teacher training arm of The GORSE Academies Trust. Our SEP offer is an opportunity for you to “try before you apply”.
An SEP day at one of The GORSE Academies Trust Partner schools will allow you to observe excellent teaching and learning across the full range of Key Stages. You will have the opportunity to not only observe lessons but also see a range of teaching styles, as well as talking to key professionals about routes into teaching. You may also be able to speak to many of our trainees and alumni about their route into teaching and how they found their teacher training year and the subsequent NQT year. At the beginning or end of your day you will also be met by the Professional Mentor in the school to reflect on your day and see if we can support your journey into teaching any further.
We can arrange for you to speak to the Director of the programme for Hull & East Yorkshire about our SCITT course and arrange contact with our current and past trainees to give you further insights into what to expect in your training year.
