School profile

Oakfield Junior School

At Oakfield we provide children with skills that they can use now and for the rest of their lives. We believe in traditional values but are aware that we are preparing the children for today and tomorrow (not yesterday).

We have a concerted emphasis on developing thinking skills and teaching children how to learn better and how to live harmoniously with others. We encourage them to become independent and to take responsibility for themselves.

Oakfield has worked with various teacher training ITTs and Universities over the years. We have been working with Surrey South Farnham SCITT for over seven years now and two members of our leadership team work as support tutors for the programme.

Previous trainees have enjoyed a positive experience at Oakfield working alongside one of our experienced teachers. Our trainees have expressed that they are made to feel welcome and part of the school team and find working with our staff a positive and informative experience. They have opportunities to observe teachers in practise and work with dedicated subject leaders to develop their curriculum knowledge. Two of our trainees in recent years were employed by the school.
