Welford-on-Avon Primary School

Welford on Avon Primary is high achieving, larger than average rural primary and nursery school located in the village of Welford on Avon in Warwickshire. The school serves the local community but also draws pupils from surrounding villages.

Our rich educational environment promotes positive attitudes and an ethos where each child is valued and offered every opportunity to succeed. We see the potential in all children, with emotional wellbeing central to all we achieve. Our school is a happy and vibrant community in which our highly qualified staff have high expectations for the children and strive to bring learning alive in order to nurture and inspire success.
We aspire to build confidence across the entire school community through a culture of kindness, mutual respect and consideration. By providing for their enrichment, we believe our pupils will profit from their lives as children.

We have a Resource Provision on our school site to meet the needs of children with Communication and Interaction difficulties.
We provide a school-based initial teacher training programme as Welford on Avon School Teacher Training Hub in partnership with The University of Worcester using our experience and expertise to train the next generation of teachers.

Teacher training

We are Welford on Avon School Teacher Training Hub offering a programme which is accredited by the University of Worcester. This course will lead to a PGCE with QTS status and 60 credits at masters level.
You will develop your teaching skills with the support, guidance and coaching of well-trained expert colleagues in a school setting, with Lead Mentor Headteacher Julie Leeman and Deputy Headteacher Lucy Wretham, and through regular on campus contact with your University Mentor.

Throughout the programme, you will have continual contact with an experienced mentor who will help to guide your development, assess your progress and support you to maximise your potential.

The majority of your time will be spent in school, observing, working alongside and contributing to a teaching team. This will be complemented by university based training sessions to develop your pedagogical understanding.

We offer both an Early Years, Later Years and SEND Pathway route to teaching.
