Castlewood Primary School
At Castlewood, we encourage every child to work hard, to learn, work and play with others, to take pride in their own achievements and to be proud of their school. Children are expected to behave in a responsible and cooperative way and we find that these expectations help children to have both a challenging and enjoyable time in school.
Alongside developing the basic skills of English, Maths and ICT, we believe that our key values and our’ 5Rs’ (reflectiveness, relationships, resilience, risk taking, resourcefulness) are the fundamental life and learning skills that your children will need to prepare them for careers in the future that, as yet, may not even exist.
Our Vision Statement is Growing together, learning together, trusting together to achieve our full potential.
Our School aims are:
C Celebrating achievement
A Aiming high
S Sharing with our community
T Taking care to keep each other safe
L Learning for life
E Encouraging respect
THE 5Rs which are our teaching and learning skills and attitudes:
Reflectiveness
Relationships
Resilience
Risk taking
Resourcefulness
About our school experience
- Details
-
Castlewood Primary School was opened in 1997 and has space for 210 pupils with single class entry in Years R-6, with slightly more boys than girls in the school.
Most pupils live in the immediate vicinity of the school. There is high employment with strong economic well being and 34.5% of households were assessed in 2001 census as being high social class households. Our school population is fairly stable and pupil mobility relatively low.
We aim at all times to set high standards in teaching and learning and to provide children with a rich and exciting curriculum that enables all pupils to achieve and find enjoyment in their primary school career. The school has developed many strengths which have been recognised by national awards and recognised as a school of best practice in areas such as PE, Art, ICT, English and for the quality of our curriculum.
We are an inclusive school and aim at all times to provide the best education for every child and work closely with parents to inform you of progress and achievement in all aspects of your child’s school life. Our parents are involved in many areas of the school including fund raising, running the school’s fruit and vegetable scheme and many others! The relationship between school and parents is one of the strengths of our school and is much valued by everyone.
We aim to encourage every child to work hard, to learn, work and play with others, to take pride in their own achievements and be proud of their school. Children are expected to behave in a responsible and cooperative way and we find that these expectations help children to have both a challenging and enjoyable time in school. Our children’s' record of good behaviour is frequently commented upon both inside and outside the school. Our school is part of the Teaching School at Southwater Infant Academy, and we are proud to be working with them and Brighton University for School Direct. We look forward to hearing from you.
