School profile

London Academy

London Academy is a co-educational ‘all-through’ school, one of three schools within AIM Academies Trust. It sits within the London Borough of Barnet and provides education to over 1500 students aged between 4-18, with over 200 staff on site.

The community it serves is richly diverse with over 62 different languages spoken at the school. EAL is high at 48% against the national average of approximately 33% along with 31% of students receiving free school meals compared to the national average of 17.3%.

Our mission is to create ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’. The education our young people receive is designed to encourage an active participation in shaping the future world through the local, national and international community.’

The newly established Primary Phase has been gradually filling year by year since 2016. The current year 5 children will move to Year 6 in 2021/22 making the school complete. The Leadership theme is encouraged from primary age all the way through to 6th form.
Built on the playing fields of the former Edgware School in 2006 by Foster and Partners, London Academy is a light modern building in which the ultimate goal of all staff is to continue to raise educational standards within the community.

In September 2019, through the maintenance of excellent teaching and support, London Academy moved into the top 50 schools in the country with a Progress 8 score of 1. This means that all students achieved a full grade higher in all measured subjects against other similar pupils across the country at GCSE.

Fees

Admin fees

£20.00 One-off, Bank transfer

The fee covers the time to liaise with candidates and potential schools within our alliance. We will collect a copy of your CV and documentation. This will all be passed onto the placement school. There will also be a follow-up phone call after the school experience day to find out how the day went from both the Head of Department or Lead Mentor (Secondary) or the Headteacher/Principal (Primary).

Other fees

£20.00 One-off, Bank transfer

A small contribution for the time our Senior Leaders and Teachers have to answer questions and be involved throughout the day. Generally students are on site for half a day and valuable time is lost in school where generally other teachers have to cover work missed.
