School profile

Trinity Academy

Trinity Academy opened in September 2005 replacing Thorne Grammar School as it celebrated its 75th Anniversary. Serving the north-east of Doncaster, Trinity Academy is part of the Emmanuel Teaching School Alliance who work in partnership with GORSE SCITT for Secondary Initial Teacher Training. Trinity Academy has quickly established a reputation for high standards of behaviour, appearance and attitude, with students regularly achieving public recognition for their work inside and beyond the classroom.

About our school experience

Details

GORSE SCITT is the Outstanding teacher training arm of The GORSE Academies Trust. Our SEP offer is an opportunity for you to “try before you apply” to train to teach.

An SEP day at one of The GORSE Academies Trust Partner schools will allow you to observe excellent teaching and learning across the full range of Key Stages. You will have the opportunity to not only observe lessons but also see a range of teaching styles, as well as talking to key professionals about routes into teaching. You may also be able to speak to many of our trainees and alumni about their route into teaching and how they found their teacher training year and the subsequent NQT year. At the beginning or end of your day you will also be met by the Professional Mentor in the school to reflect on your day and see if we can support your journey into teaching any further.

We can also arrange for you to speak to the Director of the programme for Hull & East Yorkshire who can tell you more about our SCITT programme and the QTS and PGCE offer, along with further advice about funding and applications.
