George Spencer Academy
George Spencer Academy (GSA) is the lead school in our SCITT, we work with primary and secondary schools across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
At GSA SCITT we offer school experience for primary and secondary candidates who have an interest in training to become a teacher and are obtaining/ have obtained a degree relevant to their subject area.
All Secondary placements are based at GSA unless candidates request to visit another school.
Primary placements will be at Chetwynd Spencer Academy.
GSA SCITT has been named by the ‘Good Teacher Training Guide’ as one of the Top 10 teacher trainer providers in the country and the second best primary teacher trainer nationally. GSA SCITT were graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2023.

At George Spencer Academy SCITT we offer school experience for primary and secondary candidates who have an interest in training to become a teacher and are obtaining/ have obtained a degree relevant to their subject area.
The day will include a chance to partake in tutor time (unless on a Wednesday), observe a range of classes and also opportunities to speak with members of the faculty.

- Must have a degree
- DBS check required

No, candidates will be accompanied at all times.
Placement availability
At George Spencer Academy, we offer school experience during term time for most subjects with some further requests being placed in our Trust or Alliance schools. We do not host visits close to school holidays including half-term breaks.
