School profile

Whitburn Church of England Academy

Whitburn Church of England Academy is a highly successful School in a fantastic location on the North East Coast. We have a strong track record of training and developing teachers; many of our present staff were trained through our ITT programme.

We were graded Good by Ofsted in 2020 and have been awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark Award, one of only 60 schools in England to gain the ’World Class’ designation. Students at all levels make excellent progress.

We provide a unique school based learning opportunity in partnership with Durham SCITT. We provide outstanding support for teachers at the start of their careers and have extensive experience in providing exceptional training and development opportunities.

We actively encourage applicants, and those interested in teaching, to apply to our school volunteering programme. This offers potential applicants the chance to meet experienced staff and present trainees as well as receiving advice to enhance their application and guide them through the process of application and selection.

We have strong partnerships with local schools who provide a variety of placement opportunities in a supportive environment. Our partnership schools are all highly successful in their own right with excellent records in developing teachers.
