School profile

Archbishop Holgate's School, A Church of England Academy

Our overarching ethos as a teaching school is to improve the educational provision for pupils and staff, supporting in anyway we can.
As a teaching school we continue to measure our performance against the “big three” areas outlined by the DfE. These are:
Initial Teacher Training
Pathfinder works with three universities to provide its schools direct programme and we offer training for both primary and secondary phases in a range of subjects. Since our designation we have successfully trained more than 250 teachers.
Continuing Professional Development
Pathfinder, in partnership with the City of York Council, offers a comprehensive professional development programme for both primary and secondary colleagues. We also run a two-day headteacher residential conference and can put together bespoke training on request. Please visit the professional development section of our website for more details.
School to School Support
Pathfinder has supported more than 40 schools across a number of deployments including headteacher and senior leader secondments as well as SLE deployments and specialist teaching and learning and systems and structure diagnostics.

Teacher training

Pathfinder has been successfully running a schools direct programme for the past four years with many of our trainees securing posts in our partnership schools. We continue to work with three HEI providers ensuring that we can provide the best training provision possible. By utilising the expertise of our different university partners we can offer a truly bespoke programme to each subject area or phase.
