Cheltenham Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre
We believe in 'Inspiring Lives Through Learning'. The education we provide is guided by our school values of Ambition, Curiosity, Pride, Purpose, Respect and Support.
Cheltenham Bournside School is a large non-selective comprehensive school in Cheltenham with 1800 pupils. We have pupils from 11-18.
Bournside's school crest contains the historic motto: 'Usque ad finem'. It means 'Until the end'. It means we will be with our students and trainees every step of the way. It means to go to the utmost extreme in pursuit of excellence: to give your all, to travel as far as can be travelled, to do as much as can be done.
Our inclusive school community offers excellent teaching, compassionate pastoral care and we aim to provide the biggest and brightest co-curricular and employability offer in the county to ensure our students leave us prepared for their next steps.
We focus on understanding every individual's strengths and challenges so you can quickly and happily feel part of our school community. Both teaching and support staff are committed and hardworking, all believing firmly that we should help students to be and do their best. We welcome trainees and value their contribution to our school.

We are proud to host trainee teachers at Bournside. We are holding a Teacher Taster Day on Thursday 27th November 2025. We are one of a few schools who offer the change to 'have a go at teaching' providing you with the opportunity to work as part of a team to plan and deliver a lesson to our students.
The day includes meeting the Headteacher, hearing about what teaching looks like today and what it is like to train at Bournside. You will learn how to plan a lesson and have a go at teaching your lesson to our students. In the afternoon a representative from one of our ITT partnerships will join us to talk about the different pathways in to teaching followed by Q&A.
We work with closely with universities, Worcester and Gloucestershire and GITEP to offer this valuable pre-enrolment opportunity to find out if teaching is for you. For more information please contact Jacquie Pedley jpedley@bournside.com to book your place.
