Alcester Academy

In 2011, Alcester High School converted to academy status and re-opened as Alcester Academy.
Alcester Academy has a Planned Admission Number (PAN) of 130. In Sep 2022, the local authority held a waiting list of eighty students who had not been successful in obtaining places at Alcester Academy. For the first time ever, several of these were siblings, in area. The initial impression of the academy is that we serve a fairly affluent community. However, it is worth noting that a high proportion of our students live within an area of Warwickshire identified as experiencing extremes of social deprivation.
The Academy’s relentless focus upon continued improvement has driven significant change, the impact of which is evidenced in consistently outstanding GCSE outcomes and progress. This culminated in a positive progress 8 score of +0.8 in 2019 (last formal exam series before covid). In 2020 the progress 8 would have been +0.91 and in 2021 we estimate that it would have been +1.08. To give this additional context, it represents the highest progress score and it placed Alcester Academy in the highest 20% of all schools nationally.
In 2022,the progress 8 score was +0.54.
