Netherthorpe School
Netherthorpe school is a popular, oversubscribed, 1100 secondary school offering high quality education to our 11-18 student community.
The school consistently attracts student numbers above our PAN of 170 from a geographically dispersed catchment area.
The school location deprivation indicator is in quintile 5 (most deprived) of all schools and the pupil base is in quintile 4 (more deprived) of all schools in terms of deprivation.
Netherthorpe School is above national average for all areas of SEND compared with Secondary School data nationally. This year, the Trust and school have worked in partnership to build an Integrated Inclusion Resource Centre to support students across the Trust community. This opened in May 2023.
Netherthorpe School has an incredible amount of history and tradition, and can trace its origins back to 1572. It is a truly special place. Combining modern facilities with listed buildings, this offers a unique learning environment for students of all ages to flourish. We aim for every student and staff member to ‘Learn, Enjoy, Succeed’ and I am pleased to say that this is the case.
About our school experience
- Details
-
At Netherthorpe we aim to offer a broad range of experience in a range of teaching and classroom based roles. We offer the opportunity to observe colleagues in your chosen subject specialism, and also across other subjects so that you can see a broad range of teaching styles. You can also gain experience of teaching and supporting SEND students through our inclusion provision.
Within the school you will be placed within a department, and assigned a 'buddy' who will be on hand to ask any questions that you may have about teaching and ensure that you are made to feel welcome whilst you are with us.
We also offer twilight trust training sessions which you can attend to look at core teaching skills that you will need, and have the opportunity to ask experienced colleagues any further questions that you may have.
We are a disability confident employer and where possible we can offer placements and school experience to applicants with additional physical or neurodivergent needs. We can also offer flexible school experience placements which can fit around any current employment or caring needs.
