School profile

Chipping Norton School

Our secondary school serves the town of Chipping Norton and surrounding villages and hamlets but our vision and commitment are the same for all our young people as we seek to prepare each one to enjoy and take advantage of the opportunities open to them in this region and beyond.

Our team of talented teachers and associate staff are passionately committed to delivering a twenty-first century curriculum that prizes academic excellence, whilst ensuring that every child has access to an enormous range of sporting, artistic and enrichment activities. Our core curriculum is knowledge-rich, meaning that we seek to create the most curious, creative, compassionate and courageous thinkers who draw their wisdom and uniqueness from a broad and deep knowledge of every subject and discipline.

We are committed to the personal development of every student. We know that a safe, confident and understood child is more likely to be happy, successful and optimistic in adulthood. Our students are known and nurtured and we work with families to enable them to be the best they can be.

About our school experience

Details

Our school experience programme aims to give candidates an understanding of what it means to teach in the state school system currently and will help them to decide if teaching is the career for them. It will also provide candidates with live examples to reflect upon and help to strengthen their application for initial teacher training.

The programme will give candidates the opportunity to meet current trainee teachers, qualified teachers and senior leaders. Before visiting lessons and observing experienced teachers, candidates will learn about the principles for teaching an effective lesson so that they can identify examples of good practice when watching experienced teachers. Candidates will be able to find out more about the curriculum and subject content, effective classroom management and understand the significance of safeguarding in an educational setting.

Candidates will also be able to find out more about the teacher training process, talk to current trainees and ask questions.
