Thomas Estley Community College
We are a community college based in South Leicestershire dedicated to providing an enriching, high quality comprehensive community education service for all learners and the wider community.

Your day in school is an insight into life in the classroom. Thomas Estley, hosts teacher training placements in collaboration with Achieve with TELA—our accredited primary and secondary training provider. School experience visits are designed to support and strengthen your application for teacher training, while offering a firsthand glimpse into the world of education.
Our experience days are tailored for prospective secondary teachers at Thomas Estley Community College—an 11–16 secondary school. (You do not need a DBS for a one-day visit).The structure of the day is planned to ensure candidates gain the broad insight into school life and the teaching profession. Activities will include:
Observing lessons in your subject specialism to witness different teaching styles and classroom management techniques
Interacting with pupils, helping you understand how relationships shape learning
Seeing curriculum delivery, including how subjects are structured and assessed
Exploring the teacher training process, including course details from Achieve with TELA and guidance on the application journey
You’ll also have the chance to meet new /trainee teachers who can answer your questions and share their own pathways into the profession.
it’s an inspiring day designed to help you decide if teaching is the right path for you.

- Must not have been accepted onto another teacher training course
- Must have a degree
- They must live within 20 miles of the school
- Photo identification: Passport or driving licence
- DBS check required

All parking for the School Experience day at Thomas Estley is in the White Horse pub car park which is just a little further along Station Road on the opposite side to the College. Please turn right when turning into the White Horse car park and park on that side. You will need to display a parking permit in your vehicle which will be allocated when you school experience day is confirmed.
