Consistently one of the best performing comprehensive schools in the country, The Vaughan is an OFSTED 'outstanding' school. The 2021 report says the following: 'Pupils grow and flourish in every way here. They are extremely proud to be part of this strong and caring school community. We have a long tradition of training teachers, and many of our staff are 'home grown'.

We offer, in the first instance, a chance to meet Shelagh O'Connell, our lead trainer. She is Deputy Head for Teaching and Learning, has been teaching for 25 years and has successfully trained a large number of school direct candidates at Cardinal Vaughan, an OFSTED outstanding school, the leading boys' comprehensive in the country and twice winner of the comprehensive of the year in the Good Schools' Guide. The online sessions will run from 2.30 - 3.30 pm. Shelagh will explain the application process and will outline what in-school training looks like. She will provide tips on how to succeed in interviews for School Direct training, and go through the typical demands and benefits of secondary school teaching. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the process, and also the chance to apply for lesson observation days in an inspiring London teaching environment, meeting a dynamic staff, many of whom once trained here and can offer their own perspective and advice on the training process.
For our English specific day in June, you'll have the opportunity to see a range of lessons in person, and find out more about the training process in the school.

We are currently unable to provide on-site parking. There is some limited on street parking with meters.
However, the school site is very well connected in terms of public transport with Shephard's Bush and Holland park tube stations less than 10 minutes walk away.
