Shortlanesend School

Our school is situated in the village of Shortlanesend, two miles north of Truro City in Cornwall. It is a thriving, happy school where everyone is valued and respected.

Our aim is to provide the children in our care with the best possible start in life and to support them develop into confident individuals, who understand their rights and responsibilities as members of our school and wider community.

Our mission statement 'Where children smile, learn and excel' underpins all we set out to achieve for our children, and could equally be applied to our staff; who are passionate and dedicated to their individual roles, rise to any challenge and enjoy the supportive and fun ethos of being at Shortlanesend School.

Shortlanesend School is part of the Aspire Academy Trust, a multi-academy trust of 31 primary schools in Cornwall who have joined together in a unique and exciting partnership that will ensure better provision, richer resources and higher standards for our pupils.

About our school experience

Details

Candidates will be able to gain a broad experience of a primary school setting. Time will be spent in class observing the teacher across a range of lessons and activities, with the opportunity to work with small groups of children.

Candidates will be able to talk with staff and ask questions to determine if teaching is the right career for them.

Candidates will be able to find out more about initial teacher training opportunities with Aspire Academy Trust.

8.30am to 3.30pm - Flexible

We will work with candidates to arrange mutually convenient times.

Teacher training

Aspire Academy Trust delivers School Direct initial teacher training in partnership with Cornwall SCITT as the accredited provider.

DBS check required

Yes. This will need to be completed before a placement is confirmed. We will guide you through the application process. For placements of at least 10 days, the cost will be covered by the school, for placements less than 10 days, the cost will be covered by the candidate.

We can offer school experience throughout the year, but may have some busier times when placements aren't available.
