City of London Academy, Highgate Hill

The City of London Academies Trust (CoLAT) is driven by the ambition to provide world-class experiences and deliver exceptional educational outcomes for the young people we serve.

We are working in partnership with Teach First to provide School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) where you will gain Qualified Teacher Status and a PGCE.

Our academies draw upon the best traditions, institutions, heritage and historical successes of the City Corporation and London. We deliver life-transforming learning experiences allowing all our pupils, whatever their background, to make a positive contribution to their local, national and global communities.

Your career is our priority. We are committed to providing first-rate training and development opportunities to all our staff, in addition to excellent career advancement opportunities within our growing Trust.
Through training with us, you will get the opportunity to take part in a programme delivered by expert practitioners from across the Trust whilst being based in a school local to you.

Teacher training

Our flexible programme has been designed to support you at every step. This course includes:

Two weeks of intensive training in September at our central office in the historic Guildhall, London. This is followed by a further two weeks of intensive training at Guildhall later in the year.

A hybrid training approach. Once you start your placement, you will spend four days a week at your main placement school. You will also spend one day a week dedicated to training and development.
This training will be offered via home study days and half-termly face-to-face subject networks.

The opportunity to work closely with a highly skilled and knowledgeable mentor, alongside other colleagues, who will also receive support and training.

A six-week second placement at one of our other CoLAT schools.

If you have any questions or would like to enquire about alternate flexible routes, please email us at traintoteach@cola.org.uk.
