School profile

Rowner Junior

Rowner Junior School is located upon an extensive site in Gosport which we share with Steady Steps pre-school and Rowner Infants School. At our school we work successfully together to achieve excellence in all we do. We pride ourselves on growing learners, leaders and citizens and equipping our children with the tools necessary to be successful in their futures.
We have had extensive experience of working with those aspiring to be teachers through a range of Qualified Teacher Status programmes, and have worked successfully with HISP (formerly Hampshire LEARN Teaching Alliance), Winchester University and the Pioneer Teaching Alliance primary SCITT programme.

About our school experience

Details

Each school experience day runs from 8:30am to 3.30pm. Approximately two weeks prior to your day, you will receive an email with joining detail, a request for electronic copies of your ID and confirmation of attendance.
When you arrive at Rowner Junior School you will need to report to the main school reception, where a check will take place against the ID you have sent over electronically (part of our safeguarding procedure). We operate a cashless catering system so please bring lunch and any other refreshments. You will be escorted to the teacher that you will be based with for most of the day. The rest of the day (8.50am – 3.05pm) will be spent observing lessons across the different year groups. An optional proforma will be provided to record observations, thoughts and reflections. Morning and lunch breaks will be spent with the class teacher when you will have the opportunity to ask questions and observe the children enjoying lunchtime clubs.
At the end of the day, you may have an opportunity to meet with Kerry Sharpe to ask questions about next steps. You will then be escorted back to the main reception to sign out. Enjoy your visit.
