Normandy Village School
Normandy Village School offers an exciting opportunity to discover the rewards of working in a primary school and making a positive difference to children’s lives. Our welcoming village school is a place where curiosity is encouraged, achievements are celebrated and every child is supported to flourish.
A work experience placement with us offers a valuable introduction to school life. You will have opportunities to observe teaching, support classroom activities and see how staff help children develop their confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning. From listening to children read to helping with creative tasks, each day can bring fresh experiences and opportunities to contribute.
You will gain insight into the teamwork, patience and creativity that underpin primary education, while developing transferable skills such as communication, organisation and problem solving. Working alongside our staff will help you understand the different roles within a school and explore whether a career in education could be right for you.
We welcome candidates who are enthusiastic, reliable and willing to get involved. Bring your curiosity, a positive attitude and a readiness to learn, and discover how rewarding it can be to play a part in a child’s school experience. Your journey into education could begin here.

At Normandy Village School, we offer a welcoming school experience to help you explore a career in primary teaching. Your visit will provide an insight into the school day, from classroom routines and lessons to the wider experiences that support children’s development.
You will observe lessons and different teaching approaches, seeing how teachers explain new ideas, question pupils, adapt activities and assess understanding. Opportunities to observe subjects such as English and mathematics will help you understand how learning is sequenced and how teachers build pupils’ knowledge and confidence.
Where appropriate, you will interact with pupils under staff supervision, supporting activities, discussing their learning and discovering what motivates them. This will give you a sense of the relationships at the heart of effective teaching.
There will also be opportunities to talk with staff about lesson preparation, classroom organisation, behaviour and supporting children with different needs. You can ask questions about the rewards and responsibilities of teaching and learn more about the teacher training process, including routes into the profession and preparing an application.
The experience will combine observation, conversation and reflection, helping you make an informed decision about your next steps towards a fulfilling career working with children in education.
